B+W

This weekend was a chill weekend. On Saturday, I went to a Retrosuperfuture sample sale in Williamsburg, then rode a citibike over the Williamsburg Bridge. We walked around SoHo and ate ice cream before we made our way down to the WTC to catch the Path home, but not before checking out Calatrava's transport hub. Sunday was an even more relaxing day with mini golf and a movie.

I wanted to use this opportunity to post some black and white photos. Its strange how much I love black and white photography but as of yet I haven't posted any of my own. My goal with black and white photography used to be to get the highest of contrasts with little to no gray in the photo. But, with this set, I tried to emphasize the grays by keeping the blacks muted and the whites bright but not over powering. Overall, I wanted a soft look with a bit of a glow. I watched Whiplash on Friday, and while it wasn't a black and white movie, I did love the mood and atmosphere the of the editing. I definitely took precedent from that to edit these photos.
