Iceland: Day 6

Day 6 Itinerary:
- Gardar Ba 64 Shipwreck
- Dynjandi
Day 6 we went into the West Fjords. I kinda wish we had an extra day to explore because we spent most of the day driving, and we only had time to visit 2 locations. I completely underestimated how large the area is and how many great locations there are too see. I feel like you could spend a good 3 days in the West Fjords and still not see it all. What we did get to see, was pretty awesome though.
Our first stop was the Gardar BA 63 Shipwreck, which is a 100 year old beached steamship from Norway. It is right off of the main road, so we didn't have to drive 4km into nowhere like when we went to the Solheimansadur plane wreck. It sits at the tip of the fjord facing inland, and it is pretty massive. Its another one of those sites that is just so weird and eerie. I wish you could go inside, but it was probably full of rusty things.
Next we went to Dynjandi, which is a very tall and very beautiful waterfall. On the way up to the main falls, there are several smaller falls and again, the water was super clear and blue. That was one thing we constantly marveled at was how clean and blue the water there was. It makes sense though, because all of it comes down from the glaciers in the highlands. This was another one of the waterfalls that you could climb pretty much all the way to the top, and looking back at the fjord from that vantage point was pretty sweet. The clouds were low that day and cascaded over the mountains.
Like I said, this day was spent mostly driving, so I'm kind of glad we stayed in the same hotel as the previous night because we didn't have to rush to meet a check in time or anything. We played another game of pool when we got back to the hotel, but it was so late, I almost instantly clocked out!
