Sony A7R

This isn't my most well curated set of images, but there is good reason for that.

*DRUM ROLL*

I've got a new camera and I've been test shooting for the last day and a half. I've upgraded from my Nikon D5000 to the oh-so-coveted Sony A7R. I'm not an expert on the technical details of cameras, but I would like to share with you my experience and first impressions of this camera with what little knowledge I do possess.

Before I purchased it, I did A LOT of research (mostly reading other people's reviews). I would say for the most part the reviews were positive but there was definitely an underlining hesitation about switching to a mirrorless system along with a few consistent critiques. Moving from a camera like the Nikon D5000 to a more advanced (and much more expensive) full frame camera was a big commitment and I wanted something that would fulfill at the minimum these two things:

1. Better image quality (12 megapixels was just not cutting it for me anymore)

2. Smaller body

The Sony A7R fulfills these requirements and then some. Here are just some of the amazing features I love about this camera so far.

a. The electronic view finder and screen are incredible tools.

b. I am able to use all of my Nikon lenses with the addition of a $15 adaptor I got on Amazon. It has no electrical connection between the lens and the camera, so autofocus is not possible but that brings me to c.

c. Focus peaking. What an incredibly smart tool.

This post will be updated regularly for about a week as I learn more about this camera through exploration.
