Mount Tammany
We hiked Mount Tammany this weekend, which is the southernmost peak of the Kittatiny Mountains. We started the hike around 5pm, so we didn't actually make it to the top before the sun started to set. We had to turn around at about 7pm, and hiked a total of 7 miles.
To be completely honest, we didn't really know where the trail headed. We got to a fork in the trail; one side headed along the creak, the other continued up, so we took the leg that headed up hoping that it would take us to the top. After about 3 miles, the trees thinned out, so I knew we were headed towards the top of something, but I'm not exactly sure if we were headed to the main peak. Definitely going to have to research the trails and go back.
We came across two curious things: first, we saw a clearing in the trees where people would build cairn. There must have been 100 of them. Second, we saw a strange looking animal. It was some sort of a cross breed between a sloth, skunk, and porcupine, about the size of a small dog (probably exaggerating here, I'm sure it was a skunk).
